How to hear your phone's game sound in your PC headset
It's the classic mobile streamer setup: one earphone in for the game on the phone, the PC headset half on for Discord or the stream. It works, barely. Here's how to get the game's sound into the headset you already wear.
Why this is harder than it looks
Your phone plays its sound out of its own speaker or earphones. Your stream, your headset and OBS are all on the PC. Unless something carries the sound across, you end up listening to two places at once.
The usual workarounds
An aux cable into the PC
Phone headphone jack (or a USB-C adapter) into the PC's line-in. It's cheap, but:
- you'll often hear hum or noise, especially while the phone charges;
- the phone's volume keys now change your stream's sound level;
- you need to route line-in to your headset in Windows, and to OBS separately.
A mixer
A small audio mixer takes the phone and the PC and sends one mix to your headset. It sounds clean, but it's one more box, more cables, and more to set up every session.
Bluetooth to the PC
Pairing the phone to the PC as a Bluetooth speaker sounds neat. In practice, Bluetooth adds a delay you'll hear in fights, and the connection drops when you least want it to.
The clean way: carry the sound over USB
Casttit takes your game's sound on the phone and sends it to your PC over the same USB cable as the picture. On the PC, you pick your headset in Casttit, and that's where the game plays.
- One headset. Game sound and your squad's voices in the headset on your PC.
- Your phone goes quiet. The phone's speaker is muted while you stream, and comes back when you stop.
- OBS gets it too. With Capture Audio on the Casttit Preview source, the game sound is in your stream, at its own level.
Setting it up: Sound and sync.
One thing to know on Android: most games let their sound be captured; a few block it. If one game stays silent while others work, that game blocks capture.
Keep it in step
Once the sound comes through the PC, it should line up with the picture on your stream. Casttit's Sync slider handles that; here's why drift happens and how to fix it.
Questions
Why not just plug the phone into my PC's line-in?
It works, but it brings noise and hum, the phone's volume keys change your stream's level, and you still hear the game with a delay through the PC. It's also one more cable.
Does my phone's speaker play too?
With Casttit, no: the phone goes quiet while you stream and its volume comes back when you stop.
Can my squad hear me through my PC headset's mic?
Not with Casttit yet. Your teammates come through your PC headset; your voice still goes through the phone's mic.
